The Rev. Dr. D3 Holy cow, this is amazing. And borderline prescient. But mostly amazing. It's absolutely beautiful and heart-wrenching, all at once.

We are transported into the mind of a man living the modern, joyful immigrant experience, celebrating his version of the American dream. He gives us a history lesson -- one that personalizes the struggles of the home land, lived during a civil war, giving us insight into the struggles of the people who are the force against which this recent election's winners are poised to act, into the mind of a law student concerned with the treatment of minorities in his chosen land.

This is spare, electronically voiced folk music that deserves to be heard.

Ten Hymns From My American Gothic is a sprawling, layered, stream-of-consciousness portrait of modern American life, presented by the writer as a gift to his father, who immigrated to the United States, in honor of his 70th birthday. Written, performed and recorded by the writer in off hours, while working as an attorney in Manhattan, the album meditates on progressivist themes, immigration, cultural divide, forgiveness and manifest destiny.
